I Like Thursday: Gardening and Kayaking

It was a crazy hot weekend, and what did I do for two days straight?  Weed the gardens.  Nuts.  But the garden looks so much better and I planted more seeds.  Yay!

I pulled out some lily of the valley when I weeded around them.  They look great in my little vase I bought last fall.  They lasted longer than I expected - they're still pretty good today.

I planted a bunch of zinnia and marigold seeds by the driveway.  I mostly just scattered them and I was convinced none of them would sprout.  But I saw a bunch of them sprouting!

Oru Kayak Seam Channel Repair

My sister and I have the original Bay St Oru kayaks.  The piece that attaches the seam channel to the hull snapped on my sister's kayak last summer.  I can see mine is starting to wear in the same spot.  She contacted Oru several times, but was unable to get a replacement part (she offered to pay for it, but was still unable to obtain the piece).  The hull wouldn't shut properly.

I Like Thursday: Daffodils and Dancing

Missed last week's I Like Thursday - too much going on, but nothing really to write about.  I'll have to catch up this week.

I like daffodils.  We passed this house in Leverett that had the entire yard (seriously, the WHOLE yard) covered in daffodils.  It was amazing enough to stop the car to get photos.  The photo doesn't do it justice.  Simply beautiful.

I Like Thursday: May Day

I had a fun May Day!  And lots of good things to share with LeeAnna and friends over at I Like Thursday.

I found out my town celebrates May Day with a maypole.  People gathered in front of the post office with flowery outfits and instruments.  There were several groups of Morris dancers, too.

They paraded the short distance to the village green and erected the maypole.

Sunrise

Sunrise is done and delivered.  Yay!

I finished the flimsy back in November.  It's been so long I've forgotten much of the creative process.  I designed the pattern, picked colors, threw it on my wall and spent a lot of time rearranging things.  I sewed blocks together then rearranged some more!  After I pieced it all together I flipped it upside-down.  Not that it really matters which way is up.  That's when I decided to name it Sunrise.  It made me think of a starry night and the sun rising.

May OMG - Quilt #4

This is the last of my backlogged quilts to be quilted.  I've picked thread and pattern (well, for the most part - things always change once I start).  I have binding ready to go.  Like last month's quilt, my goal is to get this quilted, bound and labeled so it can ship out.  The tough bit may be finishing this amidst gardening and other interruptions I know will happen this month.

I would love to get this out!
