Evolution

I'm working on my Small Works submission.  What could I do in a six inch square?  I started with a NYB block, but then moved to a wonky NYB circles.  I'm nuts.  I've picked fabrics and cut out my paper pieces.  We'll see how it goes!

The full-on creative process gets messy.  Stuff everywhere!  Two sewing machines out and in use.  I am free motion quilting some small stuff I had sandwiched a couple of months ago as well as piecing the Small Works project.

This was as I was finishing the window runner.  The quilting on that went so well.  Then with the exact same thread and settings, I tried quilting another little piece, and the tension was all over the place.  So the problem may not be the machine itself.  I'll have to dig into that.

I put together the first bit my wonky NYB.  So small!  And this is one of the bigger pieces.  We'll see how well the rest go.

  1. Love seeing your vintage machines. I sew on a featherweight and have a 301 set up for a second project…..usually paper piecing with a shorter stitch length. Your tiny bit of NYB is super cute!

  5. Sally that wonky NYB block is amazing! Hope you have that tension issue figured out by now. I really enjoyed getting a peek at your studio and your machines made me smile. I just got a Featherweight last year and I’m loving the way it stitches and sounds. Thank you for sharing on To Do Tuesday. Hope this week has been a fun, productive one for you. 😉 Carol
