The foster guinea pigs from Dakin Humane have learned to rule the roost. Ah, yes, the good life.
Blossom (the one with the black and tan butt) is amazingly insistent whenever anyone is in the kitchen. We are there only to serve her goodies - there is no other option. In contrast, she's also still the most timid of the trio, almost always bolting when I come near the cage (unless, of course, I have food in hand - not sure how she knows that).
Buttercup (mostly tan and white) is the most people-oriented of the bunch, and
appears to get along pretty well with her cagemates, too. Alas, she may
have found a forever home and may leave us next week. We're awaiting
updates. I will miss giving her morning scritches - she's the only one
that allows me to do that (and clearly loves it).
Bubbles continues to be the butt-head. She's great at being handled, but
she can't resist throwing her weight around at the other two whenever she gets
a chance. Her and Blossom tend to get along best, so I'm hoping they'll
adjust well to being a duo.
I'm still trying to get a good video of how amazingly LOUD they can get when they want treats. And the funniest stuff set them off - the faucet running, or the freezer door opening. I understand certain kitchen noises being a trigger: the vegetable drawer opening, or the sound of a knife on the cutting board. (We had one pair of pigs that would go nuts whenever the utensil drawer was opened - the vegetable peeler tended to rattle and they knew that often resulted in carrot peels.) They get excited when Rob is in the kitchen and he's rarely as forthcoming with as I am - but they will make their demands regardless!
These ladies are such a hoot! When there is someone who decides they want to adopt one of your fosters, do they come over to see them in person or do you do all that virtually? I would definitely want a piggy who likes to cuddle!
ReplyDeleteSally - I spent the last 10 minutes catching up on all your piggie posts - it makes me so happy - I have a huge grin on my face! All of the piggies are so adorable, and I am still impressed that you can do this without adopting ALL OF THEM!
ReplyDeleteThey have confidence that they can train Rob :)
ReplyDeleteThose Powerpuff Girls are so darn cute. Do you get to name them, or does the adoptive agency do that. Thy probably don’t respond to name calling, though. I know absolutely nothing about guinea pigs. 🤔
