I Like Thursday: October Is Not Quite Done Yet

One more I Like Thursday post this month.  Crazy, right?

Ooh - what do you think of this crazy-elegant Halloween lady with her pearls.  Totally styling, right?

Mmm... black and white.  I spent Saturday buying yards and yards of black, white and grey fabric for a king sized quilt I'll be making.  How appropriate for October - I'm terrified to tackle this project and yet I can't wait to start working on it!

It's been warm enough to go kayaking, but I forget how quickly it gets dark.  I'm glad I grabbed the flashlight when I went out.  I've always wanted to light up my Oru kayak.  Looked pretty cool.

Wasn't it a beautiful sky?

This is the last of this year's harvest.  I got quite a bit of squash.  I swear I planted honeynut seeds.  But the results?  One or two look like what I planted; a bunch look like mini butternut squash.  Not sure what that dark green and orange one is pretending to be.  The biggest ones are no bigger than my hand.  The smaller ones are only a couple of inches long!  So far, the few I've eaten are yummy.

My Thanksgiving cactus exploded!  Don't know if I've ever seen this many blossoms on it before.  Maybe it was happy with the heavy clipping I did this spring?  (Or maybe really unhappy and it's preparing to die on me.)  Well, it's beautiful.

A friend took me up Oak Hill to Lookout Rock on Saturday.  Gorgeous day and a pretty awesome view.

I'll be finishing the month with a walk around Montague center this evening, enjoying the Halloween spirit.

  1. Love your lit up kayak and those beautiful skies! That's an amazing bunch of squash that you grew. Are the little ones easy to cut up? I'm curious to know how you cook them. Your cactus looks very happy to me!

  2. The lady and her pearls is adorable. The kayak lit up is very cool. Such a nice fall picture. You must have good eyes to work on a black and gray and white quilt particularly this time of year when you won't have much natural light. Hope all goes well for you. Happy Halloween

  3. Your fall colors look so much brighter than ours. We don't have much red. Maybe because of the drought?? We have lots of yellow and brown but that's about it. Love the lady and pearls! I hate it gets dark so early. It's just going to get worse once we change the time. Ugh!
