I'm starting to make a dent on my leftovers of Winter Stars. Oddly enough, the one project is growing into three.
I had to scale down my original design for lack of triangle and diamond pieces. Instead of nine stars I'm down to four. Currently I'm playing with border designs before I stitch the four blocks together.
I gave up putting these kaleidoscope pieces in the first quilt. They're simply too noisy to put with the stars. I think they're going to end up in a quilt by themselves, either with white or colorful edges (I'm leaning towards color - I've head enough of this monochrome). This should be fun once I can focus on it.
That leaves me with a ton of black triangles, a fair number of the grey ones, as well as a dozen 4-patch diamonds. As I was researching layouts I stumbled upon some Lone Star patterns. Ooh... I could have fun with that. So I cut a handful of red diamonds and some grey crumb diamonds, then started throwing them on the wall. I'll be stitching the grey and black triangles together to make more diamonds. Then I'll play until I find a layout I like.I pulled a bunch of reds to audition. The red star above is cut from the fabric in the low left fabric. It looks a bit brighter on the wall than it did from my test shots. I think I'll cut a few more diamonds from the upper left and see how they look. The upper middle might be a contender, too. I'm excited to see what this will look like once I get some more pieces on the wall.

It looks like you are having fun with those leftovers. It's funny how projects multiply. =)
