This year's finishes was a real mishmash of stuff - a handful of postcards, various quilted objects, a few wall hangings, a baby quilt and a throw quilt - along with some not quilted objects.
Irish Chain postcard, water bottle holder, flowers for my hair More postcards: Milky Way, Birdhouse and Time Flies |
I have been really enjoying Project Quilting - this year's challenges resulted in most of my mini pieces. I created four new postcards, which were a blast to dream up and assemble. I finally made a water bottle holder for myself (that's been on my project list for years). I also completed two wall hangings - the citrus one was one of the challenges, whereas Marmalade used up all the leftover citrus wedges. My last mini piece(s) were flowers for my hair to go with my dancing outfits.
String hat, quilt jacket, Birds of a Feather, Citrus Half & Half Headboard, Rick Rack Ripples, Marmalade |
The quilted jacket started as one of the Project Quilting pieces until I realized I'd never finish it in time. Once the challenges were complete, I pulled my favorite bits of scrap (lots of strings) and came up with that. Won a blue ribbon, too! This year I joined my first mystery quilt (Half & Half), which resulted in a headboard for my mother. She loves it. Birds of a Feather was a wedding present, and Rick Rack Ripples a baby quilt. That hat I made on a whim. It looks great, but doesn't stay on quite right - I'll need to fix it. That will be a 2025 project!
I also spent some time on some non-sewing projects. I picked up a new table that had never been finished and was in rough shape. Some sanding and several layer polyurethane and it looked like new!
Last autumn I played with hair combs. In addition to the fabric flowers, I embellished a few combs with some buttons I picked up. They're fun!

I loved seeing your mishmash of projects, Sally! My year is usually a mishmash of things, too - that's a good word for it. Rick Rack Ripples is so pretty - I liked seeing it again!
ReplyDeleteLots of lovely pretties that kept you busy throughout the year. I love your mum's headboard, and that hat is fabulous.
ReplyDeleteA very creative/productive year! Bravo! I love the citrus one so much, but I love that you found a way to use the left over wedges almost as much!
ReplyDeleteThat's a very impressive Gallery of Making, Sally! So many beautiful creations, and it's nice to see some of my favorites again. I can't even think of anything I've made this year...I'd better pull my socks up in 2025!
ReplyDeleteThis is all so beautiful, Sally. I especially love Milky Way if I had to pick one. Neat idea for the combs too. Here's to another creative and productive year for you!
