When I first started writing this post about a week ago, all I had was this
big roll of binding. Therefore the title was "Binding" as a
noun.
Since then I've fixed a few bad spots of quilting, finished burying threads and trimmed the edges. I got a chance to attach the binding. I've now moved on to "Binding" as a verb.
Ahh, I do love binding a quilt.
Oh, that nice clean edge. Plus I get to admire the quilting and the piecing work I did as I hand stitch the binding to the back of the quilt. Alas, I found another little bit of quilting that needs to be fixed. I'm hoping that will be the end of it.
Once the binding is complete, I'll give the quilt a close inspection, front and back, then create and sew on a label. After that, I need a good calm sunny day to haul it down to the UMass Amherst campus, where there is a cement wall big enough to hang for photos. Lastly, I've had a number of friends beg to see it completed in person, so it needs to make some rounds before I send it to its recipient.
I can actually see the finish line!
