Inkblots and Selvedges

Wow - I haven't worked on a quilt for a while.  Inkblots has been on the wall for weeks but didn't go anywhere.  I had changed the layout and started to cut fabric.  I had enough yardage, but two of the greens were much closer in shade on the wall than they had been on the table.

I like the color and I want to stick with this layout, so I went to Swanson's for some short yardage that might go with it.

I found a darker green, another medium green and a light green.  The medium green was batik and I had hoped the mix of yellow and blue would stand out a bit more, but it just looks muddy.  I like the dark green - but I'm not sure now that I have it on the wall.  I know I'll be happy with the light green.  Need to throw some more on the wall to confirm what I want to do.

Then there's this pile of block.  I figured I'd start stitching them together while the wall attempts to take shape.  Quite a stack of them - enough for a large throw or a small twin quilt.  Any guess on how much that stack weighs?

We'll see which quilt I can focus on first!

  1. The green is so pretty with the ink blot blocks! Are you looking for a colorwash effect or just want one color of green? Those string blocks look like they will make a fun design, too!
