I Like Thursday: Wait, It’s July?

Goodness.  I've done nothing but quilting posts for over a month.  I've done plenty of good things that aren't sewing that I'd like to share at I Like Thursday.

Let's start out this post with a guinea pig!  This is Madea.  She's the first foster we've had since October.

Madea is a sweetie and is settling in quite nicely.  However, she doesn't know what to do with veggies.  What kind of silly pig is this?  She will only eat carrots.  Not cucumber or lettuce or tomatoes or peppers or corn husks.  I'm working on her.

The garden has been coming along.  Lots of pretty flowers.  This is the first year I feel like I have a handle on the garden - understanding what's growing where and making more plans for what I want to do next.

We've been enjoying a young bluebird in the yard.  First as he was begging for worms from mama, then as he's been learning how to hunt himself.  The shepherd's hook is his favorite place to hang out.

The vole I've been watching isn't quite so entertaining - he's been systematically snipping off my gayfeathers and marigolds.  Little rotter.

I've had several nice outings.  Caught up with the gals at Kripalu (a chick yoga weekend).  They're such a nice group to hang out with and some I only see here once a year.  Rob and I went to Skinner State Park at the top of Mt Holyoke.  What a view!

Got together with a few other girlfriends for a walk and a gab-fest.  And of course there's been dancing.  Yay!

I am so pleased with the quilt progress.  I took a few photos of the last blocks being squared, the last rows being sewn together (but they never got a blog post of their own - things moved along so quickly at that point!).  I sandwiched it on the living room floor.  It stayed there a day or two longer than I had intended, but now it's basted and pinned and ready for quilting.  Oh, boy!  I have several ideas how to quilt it.  There's so many pattern lines I could follow.

I've been trying to track the hours I've spent on it (I think I've been mostly successful).  Any guesses how many hours it took to be a finished flimsy?

That's all the likes I can stuff in for now - I have some more fun throwback photos, but those will have to wait for when I have more time.

  1. You've had a fun summer so far! Madea looks very sweet. I'm sure you're taking good care of her and she'll end up liking more than just carrots!

  2. Madea looks like a cutie, but what? no veggies? That's kind of funny! What else does she eat? Looks like you've had a lot of other fun things going on, too. And the quilt top is fabulous! I'm guessing 100 hours to put it together.

  3. Good job on your garden. My weeds are pretty much out of control. I keep trying to get ahead but then the heat really sets in. I need a hammock and a cold drink by then! Lol! Your quilt is lovely. Silly guinnea pig. Picky as my niece's husband!
