Hampers and Cuddle Cups

Too many serious posts about my pigs lately.  So today, I'm going to focus on some recent cute.

On Wednesday I brought in the pigs' laundry hamper to the CSA to collect corn husks.  Unfortunately, they've implemented a no-shuck zone around the barn.  I mostly got just outer leaves.  The distribution volunteers were kind enough to set aside husks that had pulled loose from the cobs.  Most of it was not good for drying.  Bummer.  I'm going to try for husks at the Farmer's Market next week as long as they allow shucking on the Walpole green.

Anyway, the hamper happened to be next to the cage as I got ready to put the girls out in the yard, so I used it for transportation.  Bertie was a bit confused by the surroundings and just sat quietly.  Pinniped wasn't so foolish and immediately dug in.  According to her, outer husks taste just fine.

I caught Bertie doing the saxy leg thing the other night.  She was sacked out initially, but woke up to make sure I wasn't up to no good.  She was kind enough to leave the leg hanging out.  Bertie watched me for several seconds, then went back to sleep.  It's just Mama with that flashy thing.

  1. Such a cute little pose! And that's a cute little bed. I've thought about getting beds for my pigs, but I'm not sure if they'd use them. They seem to like sleeping in their tubes.

  2. Cindy, I've never met a pig who doesn't love a bed. It's kind of peculiar how eager they are to use them, actually, given that (presumably) their wild ancestors didn't evolve to understand a fleece cup...

    1. I got it as a Secret Santa gift a few years ago. The pigs have really loved it. If I had to guess, it's from the Cozy Cavy: http://cozycavy.com. (and if I'm wrong, someone correct me!)

  5. Pinniped looks pleased with herself. Husks during travel time and grass upon arrival, she must have been one happy peeg.

Bertie's watchful button-eyed expression is adorable.
