I Like Thursday: Cars, Curtains, Cavies

A crazy week.  Work has been flat out, so not much fun stuff.  Still, I found a few good things to like.

It's the end of an era.  The car was supposed to be picked up last week, but the flatbed truck broke down on two separate days.  I felt a little guilty enjoying the new car with the old one sitting there forlorn, stripped of its plates.

So I ran out the door and did a happy dance when the guy arrived.  I have the tendency to do that when I'm excited.  Yeah, there's more than one service guy that thinks I'm a little nuts.

The battery had died, so he had to jump it to get it on the flatbed.

And then it just rolled away....

She was a good little car.

I like that I've started working on the latest Drapes of Doom modifications.  I have a stack of corner reinforcements cut and ironed, ready to go.  Six done, six more that only need corners done, then six that need corners and possibly other mending.  I'm hoping to get a good chunk of it done this weekend.

I like the final season of A Series of Unfortunate Events has finally come out.  I'll be sad when it's all over - it's been a fun show!

Wedgwood was resting off the edge of the third level again.  She perked up when I came over with the camera.  She looked so silly with her head and shoulders down the ramp with her nose buried in the hay roll.  Whatever's comfortable, I guess!

I'm hoping for a little breathing room next week.  In the meantime, I'm heading over to Not Afraid of Color's I Like Thursday to enjoy some other good things that happened last week.

  1. I think it's always hard to let cars go. However, new ones take the sting out of it a bit. Cute picture of Wedgewood. Hope you have a great, relaxing weekend!

  2. Wedgewood is so precious! And strange how they pick "comfortable" positions to hang out in. The pups do the same thing and I always wonder. Have a great week!

  3. Hi Sally! I'm so happy to see Wedgwood, goofy girl. I can just imagine how comfortable that position was, NOT. I'm sorry to see your cute little blue car go, but now you have no guilt. Happy Thursday to you. ~smile~ Roseanne

  4. I like the gif you did of the car rolling off! Pretty cool. Happy dance, see that's how to live, dance when you feel it and let the watchers be jealous you are so free!

  5. Great video of the old car leaving- sounds like me.

  6. We get pretty attached to our vehicles, too! Sort of happy, but sad at the same time when you need a new one. I was wondering if Series of Unfortunate Events would be a good show - my 5th grade students loved those books. Hope Wedgwood is doing good these days - she looks very photogenic!

  7. It's even harder to let your cars go if you name them. I've bidden farewell to Augie, Izzie, Magpie. Currently we have Jezebel, Sweet Baby J, Daisy, and Bing. (I know! but they are all old and used and well-loved.)

  8. I've always had my cars a long time so feel sentimental about them. One was immediately taken away to a far spot on the dealers lot all by itself. And my husband and I both felt like we were abandoning it.
A Series of Unfortunate Events was on my list...I must get to it.

  9. I had my green Buick since 1989, put over 400,000 miles on it. We'd still have it but the body rusted out and the engine was due to fall out if we drove it again. It was very nice when it got to go on one more ride on the truck. We covered a lot of the eastern US in that car. It went on its final journey in 2016. Ah well, we have a teeny tiny Toyota now, with the 150 lb. dog. Figures.

  10. Sweet Wedgewood! So glad you got the old car taken away, I understand that completely. Hugs!

  11. We call our 25 year+ car Eliza Does-alot. She's perfectly reliable for doing errands around town and nearby places. For my birthday last month we rented a car for a week. It was an uptodate 2019 model. I liked to think that Sedgwick (I like to name machines that work for us) and Eliza became good friends while sitting in the driveway at night. :-)

  12. Sad to see the old girl go, but the new one will be awesome too. Cute picture of Wedgewood.
