I have a bunch of likes from Christmas.
Get a load of the little Calvin and Hobbes. My nephew made them. The detail is terrific - there's even little pads on the bottom of Hobbes' feet. You can't see his tail - but that's great, too. The whole thing stands about two inches tall. He does such small, detailed work. I know how hard it is - I'm so impressed.
The background? Those are new llama pajama bottoms my sister gave me. I literally squealed, jumped up and down, and tried them on over my jeans when I got them. Llamas! I llove them!
Speaking of llamas - I love the llama Christmas card that came in last week. One of these years I'm going to buy myself an ugly Christmas sweater with a llama on it.
I like that I have a replacement car. It was my boxing day present. Can't really call it new but it's new for me. It's a 2008 Honda Civic. Sedate, bland color (I was told last night this is "brown"), no more hatchback; it is not my little blue car. That makes me sad. However, it has the requisite stick and cruise control, it's peppy, runs, has low mileage, really quiet and other than a dent in the rear quarter the body looks in really good shape. It's been an easy transition finding the controls and driving it. I'm hoping it will serve me well.
I like my color wheel and tea party sweatshirts I made over the weekend. Hard to say which one I like better - they're very different styles. It was nice to sew something just for me and to play with new patterns. That pile of acoustical drapes is up next.
Christmas week was far to stressful for me (work, purchasing and registering the car), but I'm happy with the results. The new year has started out better with a bit of dancing on New Year's Eve and spending the next afternoon gaming with friends (I learned a new game called Puerto Rico).
Everyone liked my Squash, Sage Cheddar Galette. I brought one of these to the game day and not one piece came back home. On the rare occasion I don't make something sweet, I know this will be well received.
What a nice way to kick off a new year with things to like. There's more over at Not Afraid of Color's I Like Thursday. Happy New Year!
Hi Sally! Oh your new llama pjs are so cute, and the figurines! WOWEE - he does a fabulous job on them. I'm glad you got a replacement car, and I do hope it serves you well for years to come. Happy Thursday! ~smile~ Roseanne
ReplyDeleteI am seeing Llamas everywhere now! They are so cute. Why, even one was elected president on the show I watch called 800 Words. the recipe sounds terrific... and low ingredients which is pleasant. Thanks for that! Good luck with the brown car...Honda's are usually reliable and that's what we want from a car isn't it?
ReplyDeleteYes, to a new and reliable car...you can't go wrong with a Honda, imo. And having that bit behind you now. I love llamas and perhaps I could do redwork ones sometime. As LeeAnna mentioned, I've been seeing them everywhere too.
ReplyDeleteHooray for a new car! We have a 2006 Honda and love it - they are so reliable. Your Christmas presents are so fun, and love the llama card!
ReplyDeleteGreat car. Love your Christmas present and your Llama pj make me laugh.
ReplyDeleteThose pajama bottoms are very cool. Yay for your new car. Hondas are a good make. Isn't your nephew a clever lad. I cannot believe all the tiny details in Calvin and Hobbes...very clever!
ReplyDeleteFor all the amazing this you do already, why not draw out a llama based on the card, but bigger and applique it onto a sweatshirt? Should be easy, peasy for you and a lot of fun.
ReplyDeletethat was supposed to say "for all the amazing things (not this) you do. Sorry.
Deleteoh & you could add ball fringe. As a hand applique person, I can see great possibilities.
ReplyDeleteSally - Happy New Year to you! I am astounded by the Calvin and Hobbes figures. We are HUGE Calvin and Hobbes fans - we probably have four or five of the cartoon books in our bathrooms as I type … You are a hoot - I can just imagine you jumping up and down in those llama pajamas - Christmas joy if I ever saw it! Congrats on your new car, and I pray 2019 will continue to bring you great joy!
ReplyDeleteCalvin and Hobbes! What's not to like there? I'm am very impressed by the detail. Any attempt I made would not be so recognizable.
