I Like Thursday: A Chick Weekend

This week flew by because I was away for most of it.  I spent yesterday digging through my work email and trying to remember what I had been doing last week.

The bridge at the top of the hill was under construction all summer.  We'd walk by the excavation equipment and joke about me taking a joy ride in one of the vehicles.  We got to know some of the guys; on Friday Rob asked if I could sit in the cab so he could take photos.  It was a climb up!  The guy was worried about me, but Rob said he sends me up on the roof, so no worries.  Ha!

The real news, and my biggest like, is Chick Weekend!  The first weekend I've been able to organize and host in two years.  I can't tell you how lovely it was to see these gals.  Some of us hadn't seen each other in two years.  Look at those happy faces!

After a summer of crazy weather, we had sunshine and comfortable temperatures for three days in a row.  How lucky!

Lots of catching up, lots of eating.  We had long walks on the beach (the wind was so strong on Sunday we were sandblasted on one of the flats).  We played in the waves of the afternoon tides and played games at night.  I have missed getting together with the gals like this.  I nearly cried as the last friend packed up to go home.  Hopefully it won't be two more years before we get together again.

My sister and I had a chance to kayak Monday afternoon before packing the car and heading home ourselves.

This was sunset at Nauset Light.  Just look at the colors of the sky and the water.  The pastels were amazing.  We saw plenty of seals and we think we saw a shark fin.  Windmill Weekend may have been canceled, but we found plenty to keep us entertained.

I predict guinea pig photos for next week's post.  Rob is picking up Miss Piggy today - our latest foster from Dakin.  Can't wait to see her.

That's pretty much it for this week.  I know I'll have more news next week - but I want to confirm before sharing.  In the meantime, there's other good stuff going on with Not Afraid of Color's I Like Thursday.

  2. Happy and lively faces!
It is good to read y'all had a fun time.
Kayaking sounds wonderful. The fin sighting, not so much. I read to avoid waters where there are seals. As a kid visiting Cape Cod, I never saw seals.
    Love your photos

  3. Hi Sally! Your weekend with your gal pals looks so wonderful. I am so glad you were able to get everyone together. All of your spirits and souls have been uplifted. Who knows when you'll be able to get together again. The waves and the surf and the beach look so inviting. My niece lives in NC and about once a month gets to Myrtle Beach - Outer Banks area. I would love to do that with her one time. They have a timeshare I think. {{Hugs}} ~smile~ Roseanne

  4. Oh, hooray for Chick Weekend! Looks like a wonderful time, and seeing special people in person after such a long time is just priceless. We have ventured out to the Oregon coast this week and it is also very windy, so I know exactly how you were feeling!

  8. Oh what a nice getaway. I wouldn't have known it was Cape Cod until LeeAnna mentioned it, but I have only been there 2 times. How nice to get away with your friends. The food looks awesome and your pastel ocean photo is lovely.

  12. Chicks weekend looks so fun. Cape cod is beautiful as is Martha's vineyard too. I am not far from them. A friend of ours had jelly for sale on the vineyard years ago and Martha Stewart bought a jar. You never know who you will see
