I Like Thursday: Labor Day Weekend

Labor Day weekend was lovely!  We were halted as we headed out to run errands on Saturday morning.  We had a parade of ducks cross the street in front of us like they didn't have a care in the world.  I managed to pull out my camera to catch the tail end of the second batch.

Weather was cooler.  Yay!  So we got around to installing the second garage door opener.  It went a lot faster and smoother than the first one.  Rob finished wiring it up today, so it all works.

My sister has a series of her paintings on display at the Sunderland library.   They look beautiful!  She's a little bummed that the ongoing pandemic may result in low foot traffic through the library.  I hope lots of people get to enjoy her work.

Tuesday morning we drove down to the Big E to drop off Golden Orrery, Pandemic Plaits and Ebb and Flow.  While we were there I saw three other queen-sized quilts that looked beautiful!  It's going to be hard to wait for the judging results.  We also stopped by Osgood Textile.  They weren't open yet, so I only got to peek through the window.  The place looks huge.  I hope they have good quilting fabric, because my favorite store, Ryco's, is closing.  I will have to make it back there before they close their doors.

Of course, since we were in Springfield, we swung by Cerrato's on the way home.  Yum.

I just finished reading Murder on the Orient Express for like the third or fourth time.  I pick up something new each time I read it.  We had watched the David Suchet version.  I loved that series, but I didn't like their version of this story.  I said the Albert Finney version was close to the book.  But now that I've reread it, even that version falls short.

We've been watching Why Women Kill.  It's been clever, if darkly humorous.  We're still guessing how the first season will end.

  2. the ongoing pandemic... I haven't been out of the yard for a long time here. Afraid of the neighbors since I wear a mask. Hearing you have cooler weather and got out is good but I admit to being a little jealous. Still it's good to know there is still art being shown somewhere and people are seeing it

  4. Great photo of the ducks and lovely paintings on display - hope they get sold. Our local library has just started to let people stay to read the newspapers and magazines again after more than a year.

  5. Hi Sally! Your sister's art show looks so nice!! It looks so inviting to walk slowly past or to sit and have a chat and enjoy them. So sorry your favorite fabric shop is closing and that the replacement shop has stuff that you want. Why Women Kill - that sounds intriguing. ~smile~ Roseanne

  6. Love the ducks crossing the road, and so glad the cars are stopping for them! Your sister's art work is beautiful - how neat for her to get a show. It's often frustrating to watch a movie made from a favorite book. I often wonder why the filmmaker needed to change the story!

  8. Who doesn’t love a parade of ducks, or more likely geese in my town! Our library features a guest artist every month! This month is a group of quilters who organize our annual quilt show! Are most of your sister’s works for sale? They are wonderfully displayed!

  9. Your quilts are beautiful! I'd be very surprised if you didn't get rewarded for your hard work. The ducks are sweet. Once I stopped for an opossum crossing - a mother with several little tag alongs. Your sister's photos look gorgeous. Hope lots get out to see them. Have a great week!

  10. Your sister is so talented! I hope people see her work too. I didn't know Ryco's is closing. I went there once and bought lots of fabric as well as notions. How far is The Quilted Crow from you? That's one of my favorite shops.

  11. We had to stop for a turtle crossing the road the other day. It made it safely. Wow, your sister's work looks wonderful. How nice to get a showing and hopefully more people than she figures will get to see her paintings. Though we are all open in Ontario, we are mandated to wear our masks inside and I'm glad folks are complying.
