Little green fabric pinned to the quilt indicate sections I need to fix - either where I ran out of bobbin thread, or where there was wonky stitching that needs to be ripped out and replaced. Well, then there were two spots where I let the backing or batting fold back under the quilt and stitched it to itself. Drat. For the most part the quilting has gone smoothly. Maybe a dozen fixes so far? Not bad.
When I come up with my quilting designs I imagine perfectly straight lines and even stitches. Ah... too much time spent looking at award winning quilts and professional quilting blogs. But it's something to strive for! So my lines aren't as straight as I'd like, but the overall effect looks pretty cool. I am rather pleased with my stitch-length. Still not even, but this machine responds pretty well, and I've worked up a decent foot-hand coordination. Many of my uneven spots are due to the quilt sticking under the foot because of bulky seams or wandering off from a slippery spot.
It's all my work, including the imperfections. I'm really pleased how it's progressing.

Although I'm sorry you have spots you have to fix, there is definitely pride in making a quilt completely from beginning to end! Sounds like you're getting close to the finish. It's a gorgeous quilt, Sally!
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to make something perfect. Your quilting looks fine to me! The machine can be a pain at times. Sounds like you're close to a finish!
ReplyDeleteI'm in total awe that you are managing this quilting on the machine. But you are nearing the finish line and what a beauty you will have, Sally.

ReplyDeleteOh my goodness. You are so close to a finish. I’m really looking forward to seeing this one done. I fell in love with it when you started! Thank you for sharing on To Do Tuesday. I’m impressed with how few fixes you need to do while quilting this beauty on your DSM. 😁 Carol
ReplyDeleteImperfections are part of the creative process and I'm sure you will be the only one to see them as imperfections. Great idea to indicate this way where you will have sections to fix! Your quilt is a beauty, thank you for sharing and linking up.
ReplyDeleteThat quilt must be a beast to quilt on your machine??!!
