I never have enough time to do all the things. So I currently have a handful of photos I wanted to share but never got around to posting. I'll try to squeeze them in now!
Our local porcupine greeted us on our walk a few weeks ago. He was a
little camera shy - when I approached to get a better photo he ducked for
cover.
We had snow in April - just enough to make everything white for an hour or so. It's pretty, but not the color I wanted to see in our yard.
You're going to have to look carefully to find the pea pods in this photo (I can count three - there were more). I planted the seeds last fall which sprouted over the winter (then nearly froze on one particularly cold January day). The plant survived and started blooming in March. Now I'm harvesting very early snow peas. I will have do this again this fall. It was a lovely way to welcome spring.
Check out these gals from down the street. They each have quite the spiffing hairdo!
I finished the quilting on Super Nova, it needed squaring in prep for the
binding. Normally I do this with rulers and a tape measure. However,
I had recently seen someone square their quilt with a laser level.
Ooh! We have one of those!
I'm pleased with the results. It took a false start or two to get the hang of it. I lined
the laser up on what should be the finished edge, then used a ruler and a
pencil to mark the quarter inch raw edge. I moved the laser to the next
corner, lined it up with the next finished edge and against the mark I had
just drawn. Repeat. Low and behold, I got to the final corner and both raw-edge lines matched.
Binding Super Nova quilt gave me the chance to use a new walking foot.
Finally! A low shank walker that works on this machine. I've tried
two others that were abysmal. This was one last attempt and it worked
perfectly.
