I Like Thursday: Snow Ball
My head has kind of been all over the place lately. However, last weekend I really went somewhere - to Peterborough for the Snow Ball dance. Loved the place we stayed; it was a cheery place. Danced my tootsies off with lots of wonderful people. It was just what I needed.
We stayed at an Airbnb. I liked the way the house was decorated. Every corner had something interesting to see. I really liked this set of paintings on the wall. Oh, if I could only make a quilt like that. Hmm... may have to add that to my project list.
I liked the view for our short walk to town. Enough snow to look pretty, but not too deep to trundle through. We passed by the rushing river and through a park.
There was all sorts of whimsical stuff in the house. I liked the sponge holder that looks like a bed! Dig those chickens? And we had fresh eggs for breakfast. I liked the egg holder on the counter that held all those brown, white and green eggs. (Do you know that unwashed eggs don't need to be refrigerated?)
I failed to get a photo of the chickens and ducks and their nifty coop. We could hear them quietly converse in the morning outside our window.
I took a photo of the chair because I liked the colorful seat. Upon closer inspection I realized it was made from silk ties. Excellent. That's a great idea!
Oh, yeah. I liked the dance, too. It was a noon-to-midnight event, with four bands and callers. I made it to the fourth band before I pooped out. Logged over 37,000 steps on my Fitbit. Yay! That made up for a few blobby days this month. Oof. We both felt the mileage the next day, as we hobbled around like old folk. Totally worth it.
The goal (for myself) had been to make it through the whole dance, which didn't happen. Needed to pace myself better. Made notes for next time. I'll do it yet!
The weekend was a real upper - so many enjoyable things. Be sure to check out other people's likes at Not Afraid of Color's I Like Thursday.

Hi Sally,
ReplyDeleteWOWEE - that is a long time to dance, but I am so impressed. You will certainly be able to make it through the way dance next time, especially with your notes. That picture grouping would sure make a fabulous quilt. So pretty and interesting. I think that and the colorful chair are both great. 37,000 steps - holy moly! ~smile~ Roseanne
Thank you for sharing your fun weekend with us! Sounds like it was wonderful and the photos are charming! Get some rest now! Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun post. I liked your rental also! I thought that first photo was quilts!

What a pretty set of paintings. In spite of the simplicity of the shapes, there's a lot of depth and movement to the color. It would be really cool to try to capture that in quilting.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun weekend and place to stay! I liked that artwork on the wall - you could definitely turn that into a quilt!
ReplyDeleteoh! I like ALL those things! That sponge holder is awesome to me. Gotta google that one! And the eggs are the best neutrals!
ReplyDeleteGreat things. The sponge holder is great. The curvy pictures.....easy peasy with a glue pen....I can't remember where I saw the technique. Love the chair. yay for being unblobby and the dancing.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great weekend you had. What city was the airbnb in. Loved the chair and chickens too.
ReplyDeleteBtw, I enjoyed your last batting post.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like such a fun thing to do and I'm happy you got to dance. I don't think you can be at all sad if you are dancing.
Interesting items in that house and I esp. love the silk tie chair.
Love the little kitchen decorations! I wouldn't mind having the milk pail shaped container to go with a few I have. I used to milk 2 cows by hand when I was a teen...before school, too!
ReplyDeleteDancing your tootsies off!!! Everyday, I learn something new :-d
