I found this little chest at a craft fair two years ago. It's made from old cranberry crates. I had never heard of Decas Brothers before, but I found their cranberries at the store last week. Cool!
Morning walks are getting darker and we like blinky lights so we're visible to traffic. Rob bought me this nifty walking vest. It has 10 different settings. The camera doesn't pick up most of them, but get a load of this thing. Yeah, think I'll be seen?
I caught glimpse of the neighborhood porcupine as it scurried in to this culvert. I was amused that like a guinea pig, he believes if his nose is hidden, then you can't see the rest of him. Not that I'd ever want to mess with the business end of a porcupine. Look at all those quills!
A neighbor told us there's a pair of them that live in the culvert. I'm sure I'll run into them again.
Pomegranates may be time consuming to peel apart, but I enjoy the process. I love the color. It looks like a pile of gleaming garnet beads. So very pretty and shiny. And yummy, too.
Quilting is progressing, even though I feel it's at a standstill. Work and health has been interfering with my focus. Well... I was admittedly sidetracked by Snapfish earlier this week (picking out a holiday card and making myself a calendar). I'm down to one circle left on the quilt. SO CLOSE!
Thanks for dropping in. There's more likes at Not Afraid of Color's I Like Thursday.
I bought a pomegranate and haven't opened it yet because I keep sketching it first. I had planned to draw it once then open it and draw it again, but so far I haven't been able to bring myself to open it. Maybe today.
ReplyDeleteThe quilt looks amazing! Okay I'm officially grateful we don't have porcupines in the neighborhood because my dog would surely find them! YIKES at those needles! Hope you are feeling better soon, love that flickering light vest!!! Have a good week!
ReplyDeleteYour quilt is incredible...wow! No porcupines in my neighborhood, but so cute that it hides like that. I saw a video on an easy way to open pomegranates but I haven't tried it. We had tons of them in our yard when I was a kid. Thanks for sharing and I hope you feel better!
ReplyDeleteHI Sally! Oh, that pomegranate looks delicious. I remember the first time I had one as a child. My neighbors grandchildren brought them with them when they visited from California. It was so good yet so mysterious to me. That porcupine is so funny - just like Mabel - he can't see you, therefore, you can't see him. No, I definitely wouldn't mess with him. I don't recall ever seeing one in person. Your sister's quilt is really coming along so nicely. You'll be binding it in no time and sharing a photo of her with it before you know it. ~smile~ Roseanne
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilt!! I don't think I've ever seen a porcupine in person. Cool.
ReplyDeletewonder if you can find quills to make art with. That's one blinking light harness! It might keep drivers away. I never figured out how you're to eat pomegranates with the hard inside seeds. Squish then spit seeds out?
ReplyDeleteI've never eaten pom seeds--but I have had POM drink and it is delishious...

Wow, that vest is really something! Definitely a good idea for walking in the dark. I would love seeing porcupines in my neighborhood, but would keep my distance also, lol! Even if the quilting is progressing slowly, it is still progressing. That is such a beautiful quilt, Sally!
ReplyDeleteI love pomegranate but hate taking out the seeds. They turn everything red! I'd be afraid of the porcupine! Your light up vest will definitely keep you safe! Isn't it a great to be finishing up quilting a quilt?? That quilt looks pretty big! Congrats on being almost done!
ReplyDeleteI too love pomegranate but the seeds are a nuisance to fool with. But they are so good for us. My daughter has always(over ten years now\) had a raccoon living in her driveway culvert. He comes out at night. Usually porcupine are more shy and yea,you definitely don't want to startle it. Your vest is like a work of art. Amazing but safety first as my littler grandson says.
ReplyDeleteI saw a video on youtube or something on how to peel a pomegranate super simple. Your blinky lights are awesome. OMG porcupine bums are cute!
ReplyDeleteI had a Saint Bernard, when I was a teenager, that hid her face behind my knees every time we took her to the vet. Like he wouldn't be able to see the behind of a Saint Bernard. It was so funny. She'd look at him like "hey I'm hiding here, don't stick that in me." never growled, just looked offended. Thanks for triggering that memory. I like your safety vest.
