Another Swirly Dresden

Years ago I found a really cool swirly dresden plate paper pieced pattern and used it to embellish a sweatshirt.  Loved the result, but turns out the sweatshirt was too big.  Not that I mind having a bulky sweatshirt, especially in winter, but was really loose.  The sleeves were too long as well; the cuffs were always in the way when cooking or washing my hands.

I bought a couple of blank sweatshirts over the winter, because my mom wanted a version of my leaf sweatshirt.  (Hmm.. I appear to have made that before I started blogging - I'll have to dig up a photo.)  Turns out both sweatshirts were too big for her, but one of them fit me better than the oversized one.  I decided to make a new color wheel.

This time I used starch with my foundation pieces.  I still had the problem of too much ironing and difficulties with the points.  Between the starch and the 606 adhesive, the pieces were stiff to stitch down.  I had a great selections of brights this time around.

I'm thinking about submitting it to the local fair.  I need to make up my mind soon, since submissions are due this weekend.

Now I have an oversized, rarely worn sweatshirt that needs some love.  It's a Fruit of the Loom Super Cotton sweatshirt, unisex size Medium.  There's some light wear plus a bleach spot on the right sleeve (see circle).  Otherwise, it's in great shape.  Leave a comment or message me if you're interested.  And if multiple people are interested, I'll randomly pick one on Saturday morning.  It would make me happy to have it used.

  1. That's a neat design for your sweatshirt! I know your mom will love hers, too. Is 606 a spray adhesive? My mom used to decorate sweatshirts for our kids and I think she used Wonder Under...? Hard to remember, lol!
