Guinea Pigs and Carrots

When I made the sets of guinea pig earrings I bought several kinds of studs and hooks.  I had ideas on what I wanted to make for dangle earrings.  However, my fingers couldn't seem to create what I dreamed up.  I love wearing hook earrings, but I seemed to be better at making stud earrings.

I was about to give up making a dangle guinea pig earring until I hit upon the idea to have them holding something.  Carrots seemed appropriate.  I know Boadicea and Wedgwood would agree. 

They're fairly heavy - at least compared to the little earrings I usually wear.  At nearly an inch tall, there's a good chunk of Sculpey in them.  I made two attempts at a smaller version, but the guinea pigs refused come together until they were this size.  It's funny how artwork can take on a life of its own:  they were this size or not at all.  I wasn't going to win this argument.

I am simply happy to have finally made a pair like this after so many failed attempts.
