I Like Thursday: Small Things

I'm juggling too many things at the moment and spread a little thin.  But I didn't want to miss a a second I Like Thursday.  So here's a few small likes.

I harvested an eggplant.  But would you look at the size of it?  The tomatoes dwarf it!  The plants are blooming like crazy right now - do you think I'll get another eggplant by the end of the season?

The volunteer tomato at the bottom of the steps has actually produced some little grape tomatoes, even through this drought.  We'll see if they manage to turn red before the chipmunks eat them.

Speaking of drought - we got over 3" of rain in two days.  I think that's more than we got over the entire summer.  Crazy!  (And I am so grateful.)

My mom found a receipt from my birth:  $5.25.  Paid in full!

That's all.  How can it be September already?

  1. omg $5.25. the extra quarter must have been for aspirin. Jealous of your growing vegetables. I have 4 baby bell peppers now, one has a bite out of it, grrrrr
I grew white eggplants one year that were the best vege ever eaten.

  2. Can you make something out of that eggplant? It is tiny! Glad you're getting some tomatoes off that volunteer plant, too. Hope life settles down for you one of these days!

  4. Our eggplants came in late and are still growing. My husband has been watering the whole summer. We got rain too but not as much as you. Only $5.25?? What a bargain!!

  6. It's a good thing there is nothing owing on you!
Anything from your own garden will taste better. Hope your fall will see everything done and settled.

  7. Sally - I tried growing eggplant once, and it was an unmitigated disaster ... $5.25 - I guess that is a major example of inflation!! I hope we get some rain soon.

  8. Hi Sally! Oh, that eggplant is just too funny. I think you will still get a few before the end of the season. There's still another good month. You'll have to keep us posted. {{Hugs}} ~smile~ Roseanne

  9. Not only paid in full but in CASH! No debit/credit card for your folks. No sirree!! Haha! It was a pitiful year for home gardens around here too. My tomatoes were sorely lacking compared to other years and same went for the zucchinis. Oh well, there's always next year! Have a great week!

  10. I've never seen such a small egg plant, hopefully you'll get a real life size one before the season is out. Around here tomatoes haven't done well this year. 5.25 paid in cash....amazing item to have. Sorta makes you shake your head doesn't it.
