Our two guinea pig foster boys from Dakin didn't stay long. They were just getting getting into the swing of things around the house. Lots of wheeking. Not a lot of begging. They had strange names: Boov and Oh! (yes, including the exclamation point). Boov hid most of the time but was a good boy when picked up and snuggled. Oh! was very excitable, made most of the noise of the two. He had no fear and loved running laps.
Dakin had a guinea pig adoption event on Friday and Saturday. I got the call at 1pm that our foster boys were adopted. My sister was fostering two more guinea pigs and had also gotten word they were adopted. Unfortunately, she's quarantined with Covid so she couldn't return her two sows to the shelter. We spent Friday afternoon as a guinea pig taxi with a car load of piggies! The shelter was thrilled I arrived with such short notice and that I brought in both pairs of guinea pigs.
They told me every single guinea pig in the shelter (including the fosters) was adopted by Friday afternoon. Dakin sent word out to neighboring shelters because there were more interested adopters than guinea pigs. Dakin published on Facebook this morning that they adopted out 33 guinea pigs in all. Impressive!
So we're back to a quiet house again (after consoling ourselves at Cerrato's), awaiting the next batch of guinea pigs to foster.
The name Oh! leads to all manner of conclusions as to why. =) Fabulous both guinea pigs have been adopted.
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful for these guys, even if we dget a chance to get to know them! Hope they are happy in their new homes!
