Pinniped is Four

Today we celebrate Pinniped's fourth birthday.  By my reckoning, that's a major milestone in a guinea pig's life.  She's no longer a hot-shot young adult, but now a mellow middle-aged sow.

Pinni did not have an easy third year.  She's had ongoing issues with bladder sludge.  In July she was diagnosed with ovarian cysts that required shots.  Then she lost her pal, Bertie, in December.

But it wasn't all bad:  there were pignics, days outside with grass and sunshine, fun with new toys and lots of good things to eat.  To top it off, she's starting her fourth year with a new friend that she's crazy about.  Sure, Pinni is still tends to be a bully and steals Cannoli's food whenever she can.  But Cannoli doesn't fear her, and I can see that Pinni loves her new friend.  I've seen them snuggled together in the same cuddle cup - something that I've never witnessed Pinni do with any other pig.

So we hope to keep the cysts and sludge under control and wish Pinni lots of happiness with her new friend.  Here's to another year with my squeezable pig.  Happy Birthday, Pinn!
