The week just flew by. Maybe it was from all the dancing last week. Perhaps the flurry of craziness at work (I solved a big problem with a fix that should. not. work. But it does! Go me!). Regardless, it's Thursday - and I've liked a variety of things this week.
I like and am amused that my Christmas cactus has started to bloom, but only the ends that are under the lampshade (its hard to see there's five buds and a bloom under the lamp and not one bud elsewhere). I'm not sure if it's the light they get every night, or because it shades the light on them during the day. Maybe the combination? So weird.
I'm liking Cold Cereal, even though I've only finished the first chapter. I'm reading it for ideas for this year's ornament for my nephew (I make him storybook characters). Oh, I suspect I'm going to have fun with this.
I went to a craft fair this weekend. I won this nifty little cork purse at a raffle. I understand it's durable like leather? It has a wonderful feel.
While there I also bought a pair of earrings from Scarabocchio. Well, technically they're my Christmas present. I love the pendant I bought a year or two ago - I wear it often. I decided I needed matching earrings to go with it. They're not an exact match, but I think they look lovely. I'm liking them!
Not sure if it was wise to name my post as I did - I've got Shiny from Moana stuck in my head again.
There's good stuff to like over at Not Afraid of Color's I Like Thursday.
How funny, I was looking at a Christmas cactus plant at Home Depot yesterday but didnt purchase it! Now I want one. I love your jewelry. mary in Az
ReplyDeleteGood for you...solving work problems I mean. Your Christmas cactus has white blooms -how pretty is that. I'd love to have one. I think flowers respond to light as in like it.
ReplyDeleteI've seen those cork purses. I think they wear exceptionally well. Love the jewels
ReplyDeleteHi Sally,
ReplyDeleteSo funny - I was JUST examining my Christmas cactus last night. I only see ONE bud. And in the past it has been in full bloom for Thanksgiving. Maybe this year it will really be a Christmas cactus?! Who knows?! Ooh, cork! I have seen it in the quilt shops - so expensive to purchase but very durable as you mention. How great that you won! I can't wait to see the ornament for your nephew!!! I have one now, and maybe I should be making him one, too. I'll be watching and waiting to see what you do. I'll see if I can find previous years' in your archive. ~smile~ Roseanne
I want a Christmas cactus. I had one for years, but my house is so dark. Like your little pouch you won. I keep looking at the cork when I am out and about. Love your earrings. How cool to solve a problem when it isn't supposed to work and it does.
ReplyDeleteThat's so funny about your Christmas cactus! I'm glad that at least it has a few blooms. Fun cork purse and earrings, too! I haven't seen cork fabric before - I wonder what it's like to sew with.
ReplyDeleteCork is amazing stuff. I never knew anything about it til I worked on a farm in Portugal that also had cork oaks!
ReplyDeleteYour cork purse is fabulous! I love Christmas cactus, my mom has tons of them in her sunroom and they are always blooming in December, so much fun! Have a wonderful day!
