I Like Thursday: Some Time Off

Time to share some likes with Not Afraid of Color's I Like Thursday.  I always take some time off in December to enjoy myself and get things done.  Sometimes we travel - this year we did day trips.

I like that we spent a gray, rainy afternoon enjoying lunch while catching up with some friends.  It has probably been a year since the last time we got together.

I like White's Bakery.  We swung by on our way home Tuesday afternoon to pick up a slice of German chocolate cake and slice of peanut butter chocolate mouse cake (which didn't last long enough to photograph).  Yum!

I like fixed stuff.  Rob has been busy with his time off:  he wrapped the AC as well as fixed two light fixtures.  Let there be light!

I like that the holiday cards are all done and in the mail.  Always an accomplishment.  I have to admit I cheated this year - we didn't have a holiday pig shoot.  I used the lovely single shots of Wedgwood from last year as this year's card photos.  I'm happy to use them! although I'm sad for the reason.

I like the progress I'm making with my projects.  I finished the navy stitch-in-the-ditch, then decided the inner border needed some outlining, too.  Ugh.  But I gotta do what the quilt tells me to!  So I'm not quite to the freemotion quilting yet.

At long last, I've pulled out the Sculpey.  I've started the critters for my nephew's ornament.  So many ideas and only so much space to fit them all together.  Speaking of ideas - I have totally changed my mind three times on my new name tag (I lost my favorite one in October).  I'm finding it hard to focus on one thing, because my mind starts working on the other.  Regardless... progress!

We braved the wind and the cold yesterday so I could feed the birds at the Ipswich River Wildlife Sanctuary.  Can you see how much I like this?  I'm smiling in all the photos, even as my nose and fingers went numb.  I'm still reviewing photos and videos that Rob took.  Birdies!

Be sure to enjoy the other likes over at Not Afraid of Color.

  2. Your cake looked yummy. Your quilt looks very pretty, and your little sculpture is looking mighty cute. You look very cold, but looks like a very good time feeding the birds.

  3. Hi Sally,
Those desserts sound yummy good especially the peanut butter chocolate mousse! YUMMMMM Yup, sometimes you just have to listen to what the quilt tells you and go that route. I have a couple of quilts that are either not telling me or saying it so quietly that I can't hear. So they wait until I hear them or find the inspiration. You look like you enjoyed every moment feeding the birds!! ~smile~ Roseanne

  4. That is so neat that the birds will eat out of your hand! I can see why you would brave the cold for that experience! Hope you show the results of your Sculpey play. I have a Nativity set made by my son all from Sculpey.

  5. German Chocolate is my absolute favorite kind of cake, and that slice looks amazing! And the bird eating out of your hand, wow! Definitely worth the cold fingers and toes.

  8. You are being so productive and creative - and so is Rob, with the light fixtures! I've been trying to find two old porcelain pull-chain fixtures (the ones that often have painted floral decoration) that I bought years ago, because I finally have an opportunity to try to rewire them and actually USE them...but so far, even the boxes from the attic have not yielded the fixtures. Where the heck could they be??

  9. What a great shot of you feeding the birds. I did not know there was a place you could do that. It's a bit far for me to travel there.! I have lots of feeders for the birds in my backyard and patio and love watching then all year long too. That cake looked like something we call "Death by Chocolate". Delicious!
