Ahh.... It's Thursday! Time to share some good stuff with LeeAnna's I Like Thursday!
I like my series of quilts from this year's
Project Quilting. I participated in all six challenges. I had a lot of fun trying out
a variety of paper pieced patterns and working through a bunch of
scraps.
I finally got around to making Irish soda bread this weekend. Also made a batch of palak chicken (since Trader Joe's no longer carries Palak Paneer). The two together looked like a St. Patrick's Day celebration, even if a couple of days late and not all the right ethnic dish! Both were delicious.
I had emailed a friend over the weekend with some of my recent woes. She called up, made lunch plans and on Wednesday showed up at my doorstep with a pizza. Yes! I hadn't seen her since December. It was such a nice thing for her to do and was a lovely visit.
I read an interesting article on the Book of Job. Made me think of Rumi's Guest House, which is a favorite of mine.
On the topic of interesting reads: I'm nearly done with The Golem and the Jinni. I had put off reading this book until the sequel came out. Worth the wait! I want to finish this one quickly so I can start the next!
I'm binding the Icy Waters quilt, and just finished quilting the diamonds of the Shady Lanes. I'm so close!
Yay for friends! I read The Golem and the Jinni, I didn't think I would like it at first, but I really liked it in the end. You have lots of pretty finishes.
ReplyDeleteYou’ve got me looking up Palak Chicken! I like that you had a “sort of limit” on your PQ entries! I think I want to participate, then I FREEZE! And convince myself I can’t! Yours are just wonderful! So nice to have a friend, “hear you”! Hope your weekend is a great one!

ReplyDeleteLove the picture of your Project Quilting finishes! Each one is fun! Your bread baking and cooking efforts look yummy. I'm not familiar with the chicken dish - I'll have to google that one. How sweet of your friend to show up like that! Hooray for good books with sequels, too!
ReplyDeleteI too love that photo of your 6 finishes together. They make a neat collage. How great you make Indian food...we have a good little restaurant here that we treat ourselves with from time to time. We really like it. I do make curried chicken a lot. Isn't it great to be getting together with friends again. I must say, I am feeling better because of this. Happy sewing, cooking, reading, etc. Sally.
ReplyDeleteI love your wall of quilts! I've never had Palak Chicken. We usually get Indian food from a nearby restaurant. It's so nice to have a good friend for those times you really need them!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness two of our projects, well even three are SO similar! I did a cat for the silhouette prompt, I made a tea cosy for the kitchen influence and we both did the same flying geese in the round block!Love all the bright colours here, but my favourite would be your heart. I did that heart on a Storm at Sea quilt I made for my daughter.

Also gotta add how much (and for a long time now) I love Rumi. It's crazy when you think he lived in the 1200s and his words are still so pertinent 800 years later.
