There's some interesting yard art in the neighborhood. I finally got a chance to photograph a few of my favorites.
I really like this saxophone playing ant. He's gotta be five feet tall. It's hard to tell in this photo, but he's smiling, too. Happy, musical ant!
Two doors down the street from the ant is this boat filled with plants.
I like the boat and the buoys.
I also like the birdhouses that are on the other side
of the driveway. See the little camper hanging in the tree? Love that. I like the lighthouse and the little truck planter, too.
Boadicea has gotten a lot of attention lately, so I'll throw one in of Wedgwood... well, at least her nose. I like seeing Wedgwood all relaxed.
Lastly - I went kayaking with my sister over the weekend. I really like Oru Kayaks. They're origami kayaks - when folded up about the size of a large suitcase, just under 30 lbs and can be slung over your shoulder with a big strap. My sister arrived in her little hatchback with the two kayaks stuffed in the back. How cool is that? It was fairly easy to walk across from the parking lot to the boat launch to unfold and assemble.
We set both of them up in about 20 minutes and spent two hours paddling down the Quabaog River.
A couple of guys watch us put them together. One stuck around just to see us launch, because he really wanted to see them work.
What a beautiful day.
What a terrific view!
We had a couple of people watch us break them down, too. Very entertaining. I may have to eventually buy one of these for myself - I love the idea of being able to throw it in the trunk and go wherever to kayak.
Be sure to check out other I Like posts over at Not Afraid of Color. Ooh - I'm also sharing with Little Things Thursday and Thankful Thursday. Enjoy!
I love yard art, and I think what you found wins the prize for unique! The kayaks look like fun and a very interesting and useful design! I can see why people were so fascinated!
ReplyDeleteI'm with Diann, the yard art is the best I've seen esp. those planters. I can't imagine folding boats...amazing and what a great time you had.
ReplyDeleteI love this Ant!!! I live in a very boring looking neighborhood. sad. Thanks for the views of the lake also. mary in Az
ReplyDeleteLove yard art!!! I have a post of the things I saw recently for next week!
ReplyDeleteThose kayaks are simply AMAZING! I love that idea! Brilliant! And fun connection with people watching you.
That yard art is so fun! Especially the boat repurposed as a planter. We have a bear my grandpa made with a whirligig cardinal on top, but sadly his wings came off so I need to fix it somehow!
ReplyDeleteWow - the yard is fabulous
ReplyDeleteWhat great yard art you found. I like the ant although the "real ones" not so much (we've had an ant problem inside this summer) - Loved the boat planter and all those cute little birdhouses. Your little Guinea Pig looks super cute hidden there in the blanket.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great post! Something for everyone. When I see your lovely pigs I'm so tempted.. do they go well with cats?
ReplyDeleteWhat fun! I love this post and the yard art are GREAT! :) Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, the kayaks! One of my rare shoulda-dones is that I didn't buy myself a kayak while I could still lift and carry and load one. 30 pounds in a compact package, I may still be able to do on a good day. Off to google. Wow.
ReplyDeleteHi Sally,
ReplyDeleteYour neighbors are so creative in decorating ~ love the rowing boat for the flowers!
Enjoy the summer days kayaking :)

ReplyDeleteHow fun is that!
ReplyDeletethanks for linking up!
I've seen a "flower" bed, but never a boatload of flowers. Great repurposing. And the bird houses are adorable.

ReplyDeleteIs that saxophone playing ant really 5 feet tall?? How cool. Love all the yard art. Looks like perfect weather for a little kayaking over there. How fun. I have never heard of an origami kayak. How brilliant they fold up!
