Creekbed Flimsy

My September OMG is to finish this flimsy, which is complete.  Well, maybe.

I love the setting triangles, but I'm not sure of the overall look.  Too much contrast?  Should have made the triangles a bit darker?  It's funny, because I did exactly what I intended... which so rarely happens.

It's draped over a chair for now.  Maybe I'll hang it on the wall and gander at it a while and see if anything else comes to mind.  I cringe at the idea of pulling this apart, but I may end up doing that if this doesn't start growing on me.

  1. I think it’s beautiful as it is. If there is something you’re questioning, maybe work your ideas into a new project—a version two. Who knows? it could become a series.

  2. Gosh, it's gorgeous as is. I agree if you're wanting to change it, maybe make another one. The bright colors make the center pop.

  3. I love those curvy string blocks of yours, Sally! So interesting to see the different designs you can get with them. This one is beautiful!

  4. Oh, I woudn't unpick a single stitch. I am loving your curvy string blocks set in those triangles just the way they are....but then, it always comes down to whether or not YOU are happy with it.

  5. It's lovely. I love the movement in these gentle curves. I need to break out of my straight line rut! If the lighter triangles still bother you, consider adding a border in some of those medium tones to corral them. That might make them a little less prominent. Not sure it would work, but it would be easy to audition before you did too much work, certainly easier than taking them apart :)

  6. This is fabulous! Are the blocks improvisational curved piecing, fused strips, or another method? The effect is beautiful, just like stratification that you see in rock formations.
