I like that we got snow (even better - the power stayed on!). I haven't had a chance to play in it, but I've at least gone out for a walk to enjoy the beautiful trees. Alas, it may rain by the time I get up and ruin the fluffiness. Enjoy it while I can.
I'm really hoping enough snow will remain to go skiing - maybe this weekend?
It's been pretty quiet. I finished my latest Project Quilting project -
a pink wavy pillow. I was able to get more blues and golds for the quilt. I laid
out a corner of the quilt, photographed it, copied to see what the end result
might look like.
These come close to what I first drew up. I'm debating about flip-flopping it so the ring is blue, not gold. I definitely like the blue center better than the gold. I also have darker gold that I have not auditioned. We'll see. It's progress, regardless!
I have a pile of four-inch squares, so I tried out a disappearing four patch. Not sure if this really works with four random colors. So while I'm working on the current quilts, I'm dreaming of designs for all my scraps. I have at least a throw or two worth of pieces to sew up.
LeeAnna's prompt this week asks us what's our favorite color? I'm
partial to blues. Honestly, it's hard to pick one color. As a kid
I really liked magenta. Now I lean towards jewel tones, like
Northern Lights
and
Harlequin Opal. I plan on making a quilt for myself soon and the hardest part is
going to be picking the colors!
What a beautiful view you have! You must live close to mountains? I'm partial to blues also. Those are pretty blocks!
ReplyDeleteHope your snow stays fluffy for you :) I like both quilt designs. I'm sure whatever you decide will look nice.
ReplyDeleteOur place looks like yours now. We got a big pile of snow yesterday. So pretty!
ReplyDeleteYou have a pretty snow view there! I like your blue and yellow quilt design, too. It's interesting how changing the center from blue to yellow changes the whole look - I like the blue center myself. Your jewel toned quilts are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteHow pretty it looks in your wintry wonderland. The blue gets my vote. =)
ReplyDeleteI was just thinking how relieved I am that temps got high enough to melt the heavy snow off the trees today. Because about 2 minutes ago the wind started roaring, which could have meant a LOT of limb damage. I hope you'll get a chance to ski!
ReplyDeleteBoth blocks are lovely. The blue center does feel more comfortable. Jewel tones are beautiful with a solid dark teal.
ReplyDeleteIt sure looks pretty! I hope you can ski some this weekend. I love blue best!
ReplyDeleteI think most quilters like a lot of different colors. They all have their purpose! I love the blue and yellow quilt. So pretty! We had a good amount of snow but it all got washed away. Weird winter this year!
ReplyDeleteSally - we got about six inches of snow, AND it has been deathly cold since. I am waiting until tomorrow to go out for some Nordic skiing - temps should be a little warmer!
