Who knew that getting the cage cleaned was such exhausting work?
Mabel and Wedgwood spent the entire time wandering around the living room, exploring every nook and cranny. Mabel discovered my desk (ooh, paper to nibble) and behind the pig table (maybe there's a stray pellet or two?). Wedgwood followed her everywhere - loops around the couches, exploring around the edge of the living room. They ranged far and wide. Wedgie never went that far on her own. In fact, she was so distracted she barely noticed the grids blocking the ramp to the cage (which she usually impatiently rattles to return home).
They were fun to watch. Mabel was so outgoing. Obviously she's feeling better - the two of them were on the move non-stop for a half hour.
When Wedgwood and Mabel returned to the cage they both flopped. Neither had the energy to explore the cleaned cage. That's unheard of! Wedg eventually mustered the gumption to explore the third floor. After that she
reclined in front of the water bottle or the hay or the pellets and rested
in between eating. Meanwhile Mabel simply slid a foot or so towards the corner, then stretched out. And that was it for a while.
It's a good thing I only clean the cage once a week - it's evidently a lot of hard work. Whew.

I am so glad that you adopted Mabel. She definitely seems to have enlivened Wedgwood's life! What a fun day for those two!
ReplyDelete"and rested in between eating"...I relate :)
ReplyDeleteIsn't it great the way Mabel has brought such revelations into Wedgwood's worldview! And Mabel, after getting through a previously tough time, is now on Easy Street. That's where Piper lives!
Soo cute! I went back and Hubby and I watched them rumble in your little video. Yes make more!
ReplyDeleteI was waiting for a video of them exploring... and wheeking...
ReplyDeleteMabel and Wedgwood seem to love each other's company now. How sweet that they explore together.
