I Like Thursday: A Few Days Away

We spent a few days in Maine this week.  Most of my likes come from there.

Before we left my volunteer sunflower bloomed.  I doubt I'll harvest any usable seeds from it, but I like the cheerful, bright yellow flower.  I love that it looks the same several days later.

I was amused by this hand by the side of the road.  We didn't notice it when we drove in, but I spotted it the following day while walking.  I wanted a photo of it, but when we returned the next day it had mysteriously moved!  We found it after a brief search.  I like that someone has a morbid sense of humor.

I liked spending time in this hammock while reading.  It had a terrific view of Thompson Lake (the few times I took my nose out of the book).

The lake water was so warm and clear.  I could easily see the bottom even when it was deep enough I had to tread water.

I liked the fish that nibbled my toes.  The first one startled the hell out of me!  After that, I just kept an eye out for him.

I like Key lime pie.  Better yet, I like leftover Key lime pie for breakfast.  (Shhh... don't tell my mother.)  There's no photo for this like, because it's all gone!

Be sure to enjoy the other I Like posts over at Not Afraid of Color.

  1. ha! leftover pie for breakfast... what a way to break a fast! Wonder if those fish are like the ones who nibble off your dry skin... hmmm there's a free beauty treatment. As if the whole trip wasn't a beauty treatment with the relaxation. It looks just Heavenly really. Thanks for taking us along.

  2. Yum - Key Lime pie for breakfast! I have discovered that key lime yogurt is enjoyable, too! Your Maine trip looks lovely, especially the clear lake water and a hammock for reading. Thanks for sharing it with us!

  4. The hand is scary at first. Glad to hear you are getting your fruit at breakfast. Thanks for the post on Maine!

  5. MMMM. Pie for breakfast! Your pictures remind me of spending time at a friend's family place on Westlake (or West Lake?) in Maine when I was a teenager. Canoeing. Loons! Starry nights. Young love. Sigh.
I think I'm adding lemon meringue pie to my grocery list tomorrow.

  6. I remember the first time I tasted key lime pie...appropriately in Florida and have always loved it. Like Diann, I enjoy the yogurt too.
That hand is freaky but fun. There is a famous old horror movie about such a hand.
    Lovely Maine trip.
