I Like Thursday: Rodents, Rambunctionsness, Road Trip, Recipe

Rob interrupted a grumbling porcupine as he took out recycling about a month or so ago.  Last week I stopped briefly at the end of the driveway to retie my shoes and heard rustling in the leaves close by.  When I stood up, I found a porcupine hanging out the runoff pipe.  I think he's living under the driveway, which would explain our recent close encounters.  I attempted to snap a photo of him from the road.  I've seen him twice more since then.  His quills are all different browns - I'll try to catch him with a better camera.

There's no way I can capture all the goofiness these foster guinea pigs are capable of.  Every day we laugh at their antics.  The hot weather isn't so great for snuggling, but Lancelot has enjoyed lap time.  He's flattens out while I give him scratches and perks up when I stop.  More please?

I videoed Buckaroo Banzai's wheeking (and attempt to escape) as well as one of his wild frolics in the hammock. 

He's full of youthful enthusiasm.  Bolt has been kicking up her feet a lot, too.  The girls are officially back up for adoption.  Wouldn't you like a trio of sows?  They get along wonderfully.

I have the boys for a bit longer before they're posted on the site. I introduced Buckaroo Banzai to Lancelot yesterday.  So far, so good. 

My sister and I took a road trip to the Cape on Sunday - over seven hours of driving down and back.  But the payoff?  An afternoon with extended family - most of whom I had not seen in over a year and a half.  It was nice to see everyone, catch up on the various news (homes, jobs, kids!).  We had good weather - it was warm, but a fairly steady breeze.  (Busy catching up - so no photos to share.)

I took Monday off from work just to have a day for myself.  I've been at the job long enough that I can take vacation!

Tried this frittata recipe last night.  It was pretty good!  We sprinkled a little cheese after it came out, but it was fine without.  The recipe called for a large pan, but I will try it in a slightly smaller one next time for thicker pieces.

The recipe called for mushrooms and I had none in the fridge.  Luckily, I had bought these dried mushrooms a few months ago and they worked out really well.  I'm glad I gave them a try.

So - are you old?  A lot of good memories there.  LOL
